Adrianbye Test Site: 3rd world business incubator?

  • Catherine · 1 year ago
Adrian: Thank you for posting this! I am actually investigating starting a non-profit to cultivate business development in excluded populations. My skill sets are in business strategy, implementation and operations-my experience too has proven these skills lack in non-profit leadership. I've worked for entrepreneurs half of my business career, gaining corporate experience for about 7 of these years. I've realized through work with developing businesses in Uganda, where opportunities lay in assisting educated, self-starter community leaders with their ideas and early start-up businesses. Through the contacts I developed, lessons learned about business process and the tremendous opportunities for grassroots business sustainability, I am forming this "incubator" of sorts. I plan to return to Uganda Jan-April 09 to start working with 2 projects right now but hope to find a 3rd-work and funding falling under the non-profit entity. Uganda is just the beginning. While I haven't traveled to Latin America region, or DR/Haiti, I would like to expand a biz model to these economically challenged countries-taking into consideration of course, the cultural uniqueness of each. As it sounds you have some experience and thoughts about this concept, could we exchange some ideas via email? Thank you, Catherine

Caveat: While strong process skills are not characteristics of some non-profit leaders, many to most have unparalleled visionary capabilities and rely on staff for the follow through-didn't want to communicate deficiencies of these leaders!
